Operating nine swim areas in state parks and forests throughout New Jersey takes a full team of dedicated individuals specializing in aquatics management and lifesaving. Description Lifeguard positions are anticipated at nine swimming areas across the state. While candidates must pass running and swim tests prior to employment, prior experience is not necessary. Paid training is provided and each lifeguard will receive a U.S. Lifesaving Association certification.

Description Junior lifeguards are hired at 15 years old and will work on skills training, giving new recruits a head start on their training. Junior lifeguards cannot perform lifeguard duties for the public until age 16.
