Sepsis

Sepsis is the body's extreme response to an infection and is a life-threatening medical emergency. When germs get into a person's body, they can cause an infection. If that infection is not controlled, it can cause sepsis. Some people are more at risk of developing sepsis including those over age 65, children younger than one, people with weakened immune systems, and people with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, lung disease, cancer and kidney disease.

Governor Murphy Declares September as Sepsis Awareness Month in NJ!
