The Tanning Project ensures that initial applicants apply in adherence to N.J.S.A. 26:2D-88. The project also mandates that facilities register annually with the Public Health and Food Protection Program of the NJ Department of Health.
Apply or Renew a Certification
1. Ensure applicant submission falls under definition of a Tanning Facility
Per N.J.S.A. 8:28-1.2, a tanning facility is any location, place, area, structure, or business unit, either as a sole service or in conjunction with other services, that provides consumers with access to sunlamp products, ultraviolent lamps or other equipment intended to induce skin tanning through the irradiation of any part of the human body for cosmetic or non-medical purposes.
2. Complete form PHSS-1: Application for Tanning Facilities Registration
All sections of the application are required. Incomplete nor handwritten applications are not accepted.
