Submit Stroke Data

On January 21, 2020, an Act concerning stroke care, amending and supplementing P.L. 2004, c.136 (C.26:2H-12.8) was enacted into law. The amendments repeal the criteria for comprehensive stroke center (CSC) and primary stroke center (PSC) designation established in P.L. 2004 sections 3 and 4, c.136, and requires stroke certifications for CSC and PSC from a national accreditation body. The legislation added two new categories of stroke facilities: acute stroke ready hospitals (ASRH) and thrombectomy-capable centers (TSC) both require certification and state designation. The new law repealed prior NJ Acute Stroke Registry (NJASR) data collection submission practices for designated and certified stroke center hospitals.

New Jersey hospitals designated and certified as primary, thrombectomy-capable, comprehensive, and acute stroke ready hospitals will be required to submit to their hospital-level stroke consensus measure aggregate data to the DOH on a quarterly basis. The data shall not contain or disclose any confidential or personal identifying information. The data submission schedules are as follows:

Quarter  Months Included in Data Submission Due Date
First January - March May 31
Second January - June August 31
Third January - September November 30
Fourth January - December February 29
