Commission on Higher Education Offers Updated
Inventory The New Jersey Commission on Higher Education has updated its online, searchable database of precollege programs hosted by New Jersey colleges and universities. This resource continues to provide a wealth of information for parents, teachers and school administrators who are seeking academic and enrichment opportunities for students. The site allows users to perform searches by program name, host institution or city. Users can also access additional information such as contact information, program description, enrollment policies, and operating hours by clicking on the “View Info” link. The link also provides users with the URL addresses for both the program and the host institution. Currently the site features 42 precollege programs hosted by 22 college and universities who responded to the Commission’s survey. Federal and state programs such as GEAR UP, TRIO (including Upward Bound and Talent Search), College Bound and EOF Summer Bridge are featured. “The dedication of New Jersey’s colleges and universities to the early college preparation of children is outstanding,” said Marguerite Beardsley, Acting Executive Director of the Commission. “The higher education community has long recognized the value of seeking external funding for precollege programs, using the opportunities to become strong partners with their local schools and districts.” Search the program inventory at http://www.nj.gov/highereducation/PreColl09/. For information about submitting a program to be included on the website, or to update a program listing, contact Errol Bruce, NJ GEAR UP State Coordinator, at errol.bruce@che.state.nj.us. # # # |
