Governor Chris Christie announced a month-long season of service this year, during which Cabinet members and their executive staffs participated in service activities throughout the state. The toy drive is one of a few organized state department collections including, Back to School backpacks, Blood donations, coats, and non-perishable food items.
“These donations represent the real spirit of the season,” said Human Services Commissioner Jennifer Velez, whose department coordinates the collection. “These toys will help ensure that thousands of children served by community-based agencies statewide have something new and special to open this holiday season.”
Trenton-based offices’ donations were divided among local non-profit agencies at the discretion of each department. Other state agencies, facilities, regional and satellite offices designate organizations in their respective areas for distribution.
