Trooper Michael D’Averso #8410
On July 29, 2023, while on patrol at the Floats and Boats event at Tice's Shoal in Berkeley Township, Ocean County, Tpr. Michael D'Averso #8410 responded to a medical assist / vessel accident. Upon arrival, Tpr. D'Averso was met with a chaotic scene and immediately surveyed the situation. During the event a party goer was struck by a vessel's propeller nearly severing his right leg below the knee, as well as suffering a deep laceration in the thigh and was bleeding out profusely. The subject was in desperate need of medical attention. Tpr. D'Averso applied a tourniquet high and tight on the victim's leg, dramatically stopping blood loss. If not for the action of Tpr. D'Averso, the victim would have likely lost his life.
