The Attorney General is committed to fostering diversity throughout the Department of Law and Public Safety, both because diversity is a goal always worth pursuing, and because a governmental agency – particularly one with a mission as wide-ranging as that of the Department – does its best work when informed by diverse thoughts, perspectives, and people.
Recognizing the importance of diversity to the Department, the Attorney General has formed the Diversity Council to advocate for equal and fair treatment for all employees. The Council seeks to promote the value of differences and reflect the multiplicity of voices and perspectives. In addition, the Council is committed to ensuring meaningful avenues for recruitment, hiring, retention, and promotion for all employees, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, national or ethnic origin, disability, gender identity, and marital or veteran status.
