Barnegat Bay Blitz 2013
The Barnegat Bay Blitz is a partnership event spearheaded by the NJDEP and the NJ Clean Communities Council in an effort to bring together citizens, students, businesses and local governments to help clean up and foster a greater appreciation for the Barnegat Bay and its' 660 square mile watershed.
The May 10, 2013 Blitz was a resounding success. The 5542 participants, which included student and adult volunteers, collected a total of:
6 Bagsters . . . totalling 18 cubic yards of trash,
13 Dumpsters . . . totalling 390 cubic yards of trash,
21 Truckloads . . . totalling 105 cubic yards of trash,
167 Tires . . . of which 100 were from the same location,
1118 bags of trash, and 448 bags of recycling!
