On Wednesday, October 19, 2011, over 2,400 volunteers (including DEP Commissioner Martin, DEP officials and staff), cleaned up dozens of areas in the Barnegat Bay watershed's 37 municipalities. Volunteers came from a wide array of local groups including students, senior citizens, environmentalists, business and local government leaders, and even military personnel from Fort Dix.

The 2011 blitz was a major success. Volunteers gathered 739 bags of trash plus 578 bags of recyclables. In addition, 3 30-yard dumpsters and 3 dump trucks were filled!

We need YOU to make Blitz 2012 bigger and better!

In addition to signing up for a local cleanup, you can help in the following ways:

  • Share the Blitz flyer (pdf) with your schools and encourage them to sign up and participate;
  • Share the Blitz flyer (pdf) with your community organizations and encourage them sign up and participate;
  • Share the Blitz flyer (pdf) with your local businesses and encourage them to sign up and participate; and
  • Suggest a location in need of a cleanup.

Volunteer to join us by filling out and submitting a Volunteer Pledge Card.
