The Crash Reduction Program is a comprehensive program of safety improvements designed to improve the safety at locations identified as having an excessive occurrence of crashes.

This program will provide for the development and implementation of quick-turnaround projects at these locations. The safety improvements may include pavement improvements, protection or removal of fixed objects and utility pole relocation or replacement. This program will also develop and implement a systemic approach to the installation of lane and roadway departure technologies such as rumble strips (produces noise and vibration to alert drivers when they leave the traveled way) and rumble stripes (retroreflective coating painted on rumble strips to increase the visibility of the pavement edge), signing, striping and high friction surface treatment to prevent vehicles from leaving their respective lanes and causing crashes, injuries and deaths.
