The New Jersey Department of Agriculture, the New Jersey Junior Breeder Program, and Rutgers Cooperative Extension will sponsor a "Livestock and Equine Youth and Volunteer Symposium" on Saturday, February 24, 2001 at the Cook Campus Center, New Brunswick, New Jersey. The snow date is Sunday, February 25. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. There will be a charge of $7.50 for the box lunch. Featured speakers in the morning session are Jeff Goodwin who will speak on "Ethics In Animal Youth Projects" and Jean Griffiths, who will present "Positive Attitudes in Youth Programs". Attendees will be able to choose any three mini-seminars in the afternoon. Those topics include "Fitting and Showmanship of Goats," "General Goat Herd Management," "Goat Judging," "Conformation Analysis of the Horse," "Horse Judging: Oral Reasons," "Horse Pasture Management," "Dairy Showmanship and Dairy Judging," "Cattle Breeding and Genetics," "Marketing Your Livestock Project - Beef, Sheep, Goats, Swine," "Beef Judging," "Sheep Judging," "Swine Judging," "General Flock Management," and "Nutrition for the Beef Animal." |
