ICYMI: STONO to Host Summer of Freedom Expungement Clinics
TRENTON – August 12, 2025 – STONO Public Affairs is excited to announce STONO Summer of Freedom, a series of expungement clinics, connecting formerly incarcerated individuals with crucial legal services. These events build on the expungement clinics STONO has hosted this year, alongside the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender and Volunteers of America Delaware Valley.
“The collateral consequences from a criminal record can follow former offenders for decades, impacting their ability to secure a job or find housing,” said James Gee, founder, STONO Public Affairs. “STONO’s expungement clinics aim to meet people where they are, connecting them with vital services in community hubs like churches and barbershops.”
The events will offer attendees access to legal professionals who will assist with expungement eligibility screenings, application preparation, and additional guidance as needed. No appointments are necessary, though pre-registration is encouraged.
“The expansion of our Expungement Unit has made it possible for us to attend more community events like those hosted by STONO,” said New Jersey Public Defender Jennifer Sellitti. “It’s a privilege to bring our team directly into neighborhoods, into barbershops, churches, and the very communities where we live and work, to connect with people who deserve second chances.”
“We see everyday the impact a criminal record continues to have on people who have served their time and then some,” said Dan Lombardo, CEO, Volunteers of America Delaware Valley. “We are excited to be partnering with STONO once again, to offer the life changing opportunity of expungement to even more people around New Jersey.”
