In Memory Ceremony Held at Vietnam Memorial

On September 14, Esther Chucaralao, Deputy Commissioner of Veterans Affairs, attended a ceremony at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial and Museum in Holmdel honoring those who passed away from mental and physical injuries sustained during the Vietnam War. The event featured remarks from Vietnam Veteran David Drummond, who served as the keynote speaker and shared his experiences as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, and Assemblyman Gerry Scharfenberger.

The event was made possible by a host of leaders, including Amy Osborn, CEO, New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation, who works tirelessly to honor the memories of those Vietnam service members who carried – and continue to carry – the invisible wounds of war.

The memorial began the In Memory program to honor New Jersey Veterans whose names do not appear on the Memorial Wall. Their names are placed on engraved tiles inside the memorial to honor their memory along with those Veterans who lost their lives in combat. We honor the sacrifice of all these brave men and women, and we hold them and their families in our hearts. For more photos of the ceremony, please click here.
