Esther Chucaralao, Deputy Commissioner of Veterans Affairs, recently had the honor of attending the 100th birthday celebration of World War II hero U.S. Army Sgt. August "Augie" Caccavone, a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge, Bronze Star recipient, and lifelong Bergen County resident. Chucaralao joined U.S. Representative Josh Gottheimer, U.S. Army Veteran and New Jersey Senator Gordon Johnson, and many others to pay tribute to Augie's service and accomplishments and to celebrate his milestone birthday. We wish a very happy birthday to Augie and thank him for his service!
