New Jersey Department of Education

Office of Assessments

This office is responsible for administering the statewide educational assessment system, which includes the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) and the Dynamic Learning Map (DLM) in English language arts and mathematics at grade levels 3-11. Science is assessed in grades 4 and 8, along with a biology end-of-course assessment at the high school level.  These assessments are used to measure student progress in achieving the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and meeting state and federal accountability requirements.  All assessments are aligned to the academic standards and related student progress indicators.  The Alternate Proficiency Assessment (APA) serves students with severe cognitive disabilities.
