Purpose: The Southern Learning Resource Center grant Year 1 of 3 is a federally-funded limited-competitive grant program intended to increase the engagement of parents of students with disabilities in their children's education and schools. This program provides funds to operate the Southern Learning Resource Center (SLRC), one of four special education resource centers established throughout the state. The SLRC will support the professional development of educational professionals, pre-service students, parents and advocacy group members through the provision of a resource library and access to materials related to special education, hosting of professional learning events, and maintenance of a production area for materials to enhance lessons and the classroom. This grant program is a three year grant program. The successful grantee will operate the SLRC on behalf of the New Jersey Department of Education. The maximum award under this program is $1,250,000 in Year 1 and is funded from federal IDEA funds. Eligibility to apply for this Southern Learning Resource Center grant Year 1 of 3 is open to all NJ public 2 and 4-year institutions of higher education with primary campuses located within the seven counties of the southern region (Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem). The Year 1 project period is July 1, 2018-June 30, 2019
