Purpose: 

The Drug Abuse Education Fund (DAEF) grant program is a five-year project designed to provide school-age youth in New Jersey with an evidence-based national or statewide model substance use disorder education and prevention program that has demonstrated success. The program is to be delivered by law enforcement personnel to students during the school day between September and June in any of grades kindergarten through grade 12, as determined by the local education agency (LEA) in collaboration with law enforcement and the applicant. The students to be served are in 300 public, nonpublic, charter and/or Renaissance project schools in any of the 21 counties statewide. However, a minimum of 30 schools out of total serviced must be those where 25% or more of the student population is identified as economically disadvantaged per the NJ School Performance Reports and a minimum number of 10 counties must be serviced.

The DAEF grant program is a continuation grant program open to Law Enforcement Against Drugs (L.E.A.D.) Inc., the applicant selected through a competitive process in Year 1. This is the third year of a five-year program. The eligible applicant may apply for up to $375,00 in Year 3. One (1) award will be made.

Based on the availability of FY25 DAEF state appropriations this third year of the five-year grant program will begin September 1, 2024 and end on August 31, 2025.
