New Jersey Department of Education

Nonpublic School Technology Initiative Program

The New Jersey Nonpublic School Technology Initiative Program is authorized by the annual Appropriations Act, and authorizes aid to be paid to school districts and allocated for nonpublic school pupils in a manner that is consistent with the provisions of the federal and state constitution.

The program requires each public school district in New Jersey to provide technology to all qualifying students attending a nonpublic school located in the public school district. The two-part goal of the program is:

  • to provide nonpublic school students with computers, educational software, distance learning equipment and other technologies that can improve their education by meeting their specific educational needs and
  • to give nonpublic school teachers the skills, resources and incentives to use educational technologies effectively to improve teaching and learning in the classroom.
