Speed Limits For State Roads

Route NJ 29
(a) The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of State Highway Route NJ 29 described in this section are hereby established and adopted as the maximum legal rate of speed:
1. In Mercer County:
i. In the Township of Hamilton:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 55 MPH between Route I-295 - Route NJ 29 interchange and 290 feet south of Route NJ 129 (southbound underpass) (approximate mileposts 0.0 to 1.69); thence
(B) Zone 2: 45 MPH between 290 feet south of Route NJ 129 (southbound underpass) and the Hamilton Township-Trenton City corporate line (approximate mileposts 1.69 to 1.77); thence
ii. In the City of Trenton:
(1) For the northbound direction of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 45 MPH between the Hamilton Township corporate line-Trenton City corporate line and Cass Street (approximate mileposts 1.77 to 2.94); thence
(B) Zone 2:  40 MPH between Cass Street and South Warren Street (approximate mileposts 2.94 to 3.22); thence
(2) For the southbound direction of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 45 MPH between the Hamilton Township corporate line-Trenton City corporate line and 1,260 feet south of Cass Street (approximate mileposts 1.77 to 2.68); thence
(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between 1,260 feet south of Cass Street and South Warren Street (approximate mileposts 2.68 to 3.22); thence
(3) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 45 MPH between South Warren Street and 500 feet north of Bridge Street (approximate mileposts 3.22 to 3.51); thence
(B) Zone 2:50 MPH between 500 feet north of Bridge Street and Lee Avenue (approximate mileposts 3.51 to 5.90); thence
(C) Zone 3: 40 MPH between Lee Avenue and Aberfeldy Drive (approximate mileposts 5.90 to 6.71); thence
(D) Zone 4:  55 MPH between Aberfeldy Drive and the Trenton City–Ewing Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 6.71 to 6.93); thence
iii. In the Township of Ewing:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 55 MPH between the Trenton City–Ewing Township corporate line and West Upper Ferry Road (approximate mileposts 6.93 to 8.49); thence
(B) Zone 2: 45 MPH between 820 feet north of Route I-95 and the Ewing Township –Hopewell Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 9.30 to 10.51); thence
(2) For the northbound direction of traffic:
(A) Zone 3: 45 MPH between West Upper Ferry Road and 820 feet north of Route I-95 (approximate mileposts 8.49 to 9.30); thence
(3) For the southbound direction of traffic:
(A) Zone 4: 55 MPH between 820 feet north of Route I-95 and West Upper Ferry Road (approximate mileposts 8.49 to 9.30); thence
iv. In the Township of Hopewell:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 45 MPH between the Ewing Township-Hopewell Township corporate line and 200 feet south of Wilford Avenue (approximate mileposts 10.51 to 11.79); thence
(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between 200 feet south of Wilford Avenue and 550 feet north of Washington Crossing-Pennington Road (approximate mileposts 11.79 to 12.05); thence
(C) Zone 3: 45 MPH between 550 feet north of Washington Crossing-Pennington Road and 600 feet south of Church Road (approximate mileposts 12.05 to 12.99); thence
(D) Zone 4: 40 MPH between 600 feet south of Church Road and Fiddlers Creek (approximate mileposts 12.99 to 13.35); thence
(E) Zone 5: 45 MPH between Fiddlers Creek and the Hopewell Township-West Amwell Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 13.35 to 17.01); thence
2. Hunterdon County:
i. In the Township of West Amwell:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 45 MPH between the Hopewell Township-West Amwell Township corporate line and the West Amwell Township-City of Lambertville corporate line (approximate mileposts 17.01 to 18.07); thence
ii. In the City of Lambertville:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between the West Amwell Township-City of Lambertville corporate line and 500 feet south of Mount Hope Street (approximate mileposts 18.07 to 18.51); thence
(B) Zone 2: 35 MPH between 500 feet south of Mount Hope Street and Mount Hope Street (approximate mileposts 18.51 to 18.60); thence
NOTE: Route NJ 29 is coincident with Route NJ 165 (approximate mileposts 0.00 to 0.26) from approximate mileposts 18.60 to 18.87.  See Route NJ 165 for speed limits in this section; thence
(C) Zone 3: 25 MPH between the easternmost intersection with Bridge Street and 375 feet south of Cherry Lane, except that the maximum speed limit shall be 15 MPH within the Lambertville Public School Zone while “15 miles per hour when flashing" signs are operating during recess or while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 18.87 to 19.60); thence
(D) Zone 4: 35 MPH between 375 feet south of Cherry Lane and 800 feet north of Cherry Lane (approximate mileposts 19.60 to 19.82); thence
(E) Zone 5: 45 MPH between 800 feet north of Cherry Lane and the City of Lambertville-Delaware Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 19.82 to 19.96); thence
iii. In the Township of Delaware:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 45 MPH between the City of Lambertville-Delaware Township corporate line and 1,200 feet south of Brookville Hollow Road (approximate mileposts 19.96 to 21.45); thence
(B) Zone 2: 35 MPH between 1,200 feet south of Brookville Hollow Road and the southernmost Delaware Township-Stockton Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 21.45 to 21.72); thence
(C) Zone 3: 35 MPH between the northernmost Stockton Borough- Delaware Township corporate line and 1,500 feet north of Kingwood-Stockton Road (County Route 519) (approximate mileposts 23.03 to 23.31); thence
(D) Zone 4: 50 MPH between 1,500 feet north of Kingwood-Stockton Road (County Route 519) and the Delaware Township-Kingwood Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 23.31 to 26.24); thence
iv. In the Borough of Stockton:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 30 MPH between the southernmost Delaware Township-Stockton Borough corporate line and 1,600 feet south of Bridge Street (approximate mileposts 21.72 to 22.07); thence
(B) Zone 2: 25 MPH between 1,600 feet south of Bridge Street and Stockton-Flemington Road-Ferry Street (County Route 523), except for 15 MPH when passing through the Stockton Elementary School Zone when "15 mph when flashing" signs are operating during recess or while children are going to or leaving school during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 22.07 to 22.48); thence
(C) Zone 3: 30 MPH between Stockton-Flemington Road-Ferry Street (County Route 523) and the northernmost Stockton Borough-Delaware Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 22.48 to 23.03); thence
v. In Township of Kingwood:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Delaware Township-Kingwood Township corporate line and the Kingwood Township-Frenchtown Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 26.24 to 34.00); thence
vi. In the Borough of Frenchtown:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Kingwood Township-Frenchtown Borough corporate line and Washington Street (approximate mileposts 34.00 to 34.28); thence
NOTE: State Highway Route NJ 29 is under county (Hunterdon County) jurisdiction from approximate mileposts 34.28 to 34.71.
