What New Jersey Medicaid Providers Need to Know About Section 6032
Medicaid providers must understand their responsibilities under Section 6032.
If you are a Medicaid provider, it is important to understand your responsibilities under Section 6032.
Under Section 6032 of the Federal Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, providers must take steps to prevent and detect fraud, waste, and abuse in the Medicaid program. These entities include hospitals, nursing homes, doctors, managed care organizations (MCOs), and other healthcare providers. Providers who receive more than $5 million in Medicaid payments from the State annually must also submit certification of compliance.
By complying with Section 6032, healthcare providers can help ensure Medicaid funds are spent responsibly, and that providers properly deliver the care and services that they bill for.
Taking steps to prevent and detect fraud, waste, and abuse also helps providers to mitigate the risk of civil or criminal penalties.
