Join the New Jersey Department of Corrections

Strength in Unity. Empowered by Equity.

New Jersey may be the 4th smallest state in the U.S.– but nearly 45% of New Jersey’s 8.9 million residents are people of color and it is consistently ranked as one of the most diverse states in the country.

As the largest law enforcement agency in New Jersey, the NJDOC welcomes men and women from all backgrounds to join their team of 4,800+ uniformed custody staff members. All employees of the NJDOC team work together to advance public safety and promote successful reintegration in a dignified, safe, secure, rehabilitative, and gender-informed environment.

The NJDOC recently established its own Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Office, which assists in fostering professional environments by cultivating and preserving a work climate that demonstrates the agency’s respect for individuality.

We strive to build a professional, skilled workforce that is representative of New Jersey’s diverse population – while also representative of all individuals we serve and protect each and every day.

Serve with Dignity and Respect, Make a Real Difference
