The mission of the New Jersey Department of Corrections (NJDOC) is to advance public safety and promote successful reintegration in a dignified, safe, secure, rehabilitative, and gender-informed environment, supported by a professional, trained, and diverse workforce, enhanced by community engagement.

Since its establishment in 1976, NJDOC has been responsible for maintaining State correctional facilities, as well as the care of incarcerated persons housed within these institutions. The Department operates nine correctional facilities throughout the State, each with a wide variety of programs and services that facilitate rehabilitation and reintegration.

As a NJDOC Correctional Police Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the custody, safety, and care of incarcerated individuals in any NJDOC correctional facilities throughout New Jersey. The Department also boasts a number of specialty law enforcement groups and teams that assist in fostering a safer State.

As a NJDOC Correctional Police Officer, your goals are simple:

• To provide public safety and security through the custody and management of individuals incarcerated within the criminal justice system.
• To ensure the safety and welfare of the staff and incarcerated population.
