Authorized to Teach
The Welding #2543 endorsement entitles the holder to teach in New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE)-approved career and technical education (CTE) courses in the following programs, and programs of study under the following Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) codes.

Employment experience requirements can be met using one of the following:
- Full-time or part-time employment, or both (not self-employment)
- Self-employment
- Military qualifications and training
- Arc cutting
- Bare metal-arc welding
- Design statics and strength of materials
- Fabrication of alloys
- Flux cored arc welding
- Gas metal arc welding
- Gas tungsten arc welding
- Pressure welding
- Shielded metal arc welding
- Welding automation
- Welding blueprint and layout
- Welding codes and procedures
Candidates must submit a copy of their current Welding Certificate issued by the American Society of Welders (AWS). For more information, visit the AWS website.
Note: Any AWS Professional Certification will meet this requirement.
Employment experience is only required if the candidate is obtaining certification using one of the following:
- Grade point average (GPA) exception under Option 1: Bachelor's Degree or Higher
- Option 2: Associate Degree with Employment Experience
- Option 3: Employment Experience Only
Candidates using option 1 without the GPA exception are not required to have employment experience.
