Sister Rose Thering Award

To honor the life work of Sister Rose in the area of education, specifically related to anti-Semitism, the Holocaust/genocide and prejudice reduction and in developing relationships between the Jewish and non-Jewish communities to better enhance and strengthen relationships with each other. 

Maud Dahme Award

Presented to an individual who has demonstrated the moral courage and sense of humanity of an upstander in educating others. 

Hela Young Award

Awarded to an individual, group, or organization in recognition of outstanding work in the community for the improvement of human relations among diverse peoples and for the improvement of the human condition specifically related to prejudice reduction.

The Honey & Maurice Axelrod Award

To identify a School, Museum or Center in New Jersey to receive the award toward educating the students, educators and the community regarding Holocaust/genocide education inclusive of prejudice reduction, bias, bullying and racism prevention.

Open to New Jersey Schools/Museums/Holocaust Centers whose goal is educating students, educators and the community regarding Holocaust/genocide education inclusive of prejudice reduction, bias, bullying and racism prevention.

Jack Zaifman Humanitarian Award

The Zaifman family has initiated this award to honor their father Jack, who was a Holocaust survivor and had for many years spoken to hundreds of students and community groups to tell of his experiences during WWII before passing away in 2016.  The award goes to an educator who has demonstrated outstanding efforts in teaching the Holocaust and genocide in their classroom, as well as issues of bias, prejudice, bigotry and bullying.

Open to individuals from Burlington, Somerset and Mercer Counties.

Margit Feldman Teaching Award

The Feldman family has initiated this award to honor their mother, Margit, who is a Holocaust survivor.  The award goes to an educator who has demonstrated outstanding efforts in teaching the Holocaust and genocide in their classroom, as well as issues of bias, prejudice, bigotry and bullying.

Open to individuals from Somerset, Morris, Hunterdon, Union, Sussex and Warren Counties.

Gina Lanceter Power of One Award

Established by her family and the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education in her honor. Gina is a survivor of the Holocaust who has discussed her experiences with children and adults for over 20 years and always emphasizes the importance of being an "upstander" and how one person can make a difference.

Open to individuals in Essex, Morris, Union, Sussex, Somerset and Passaic Counties.

Upstander Award

For recognizing injustice and acting in a way that takes a positive stand against prejudice.

Youth Holocaust Awareness Award

Sponsored by Kidsbridge Museum in partnership with the Axelrod Foundation and the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education and given to a student that has demonstrated an altruistic act of generating awareness, empathy and action for holocaust and/or genocide education.
