Application Deadline is December 7^th

(TRENTON) –  The New Jersey Department of Human Services is reminding families with incomes up to $150,000 to apply as soon as possible for the school-age tuition assistance program that can help with child care costs as schools operate remotely.

The program’s application deadline is December 7^th.  Funding is available through the end of the calendar year.

Under the program, families with incomes up to $150,000 are eligible for tuition assistance to help with child care costs as schools operate remotely. Families can apply for assistance by completing an online application at www.ChildCareNJ.gov. Those applying need proof of income and a notice or announcement from their child’s school of a remote learning schedule, including hours.

Tuition assistance is available through December 30th for eligible New Jersey residents with school-age children, 5 to 13 years old. The tuition assistance is paid directly to the family’s selected licensed child care centers or registered family child care provider.

Recipients are eligible for either full- or part-time support based on their families’ needs.

“We urge all eligible families who need this assistance to apply as soon as possible,” Human Services Commissioner Carole Johnson said. “There’s still time for hard-working families across New Jersey to get help as this challenging time continues. Apply before December 7^th to ensure you get this valuable assistance.”

The program is funded with federal Coronavirus Relief Fund money and is part of an initiative announced by Governor Murphy to support working families and child care. As part of this initiative, Human Services also has provided grant funding to licensed child care centers and registered family child care providers to support operational costs related to COVID-19 health and safety guidelines.
