Certification Steps

STEP 1 - ATTEND A "HOW TO BECOME A FILM READY COMMUNITY" WORKSHOP

Representatives of municipal governments will receive training and guidance from industry professionals, local mayors and NJMPTVC Commissioners and staff and walk away with a toolkit to attract and welcome productions to their community.

STEP 2 - DESIGNATE A FILM READY LIAISON

The designated Film Ready liaison must be employed by a division of the city or county’s local government and be a skilled and knowledgeable official who knows the ins and outs of their communities.

STEP 3 - ADOPT A FORMAL PERMIT PROCESS

Either pass a film ordinance that promotes media production in a way that is both mutually beneficial for residents and industry professionals alike or administratively enforceable guidelines, recommended by the NJMPTVC, must be adopted.

STEP 4 - UPLOAD FILM LOCATIONS

Designate a community affiliate to submit photos of 10 or more interesting and frequently requested filming locations in your community for inclusion in the NJMPTVC location library. At least 10 images (the more the better!) must accompany each location, along with a public description.

STEP 5 - SUBMIT A LIST OF LOCAL RESOURCES

A list of at least five (5) current local production resources, e.g. caterer/food truck, restaurant, lodging, construction supplies, car rental, office supplies, security services must be compiled and submitted.
