The Roy W. Dean Grant for Fall 2025 is now accepting submissions. This grant supports indie filmmakers worldwide who create unique films that make a meaningful contribution to society.

For over 32 years, From the Heart Productions, a top-rated 501(c)3 non-profit, has championed visionary filmmakers through the Roy W. Dean Grants. This Fall cycle marks the final Roy W. Dean Grant of 2025, making it an especially important opportunity for those filmmakers to complete their project with funding and professional support.

Grant Highlights:

• Cash Award: $3,500 to help complete your film.
• In-Kind Services: Thousands of dollars in donated products and services, including:
  • $15,000 in theme music from award-winning composer David Raiklen
  • $6,000 in animation from Emmy-winner Charlie Canfield
  • $900 Teris JQ40-III Carbon Fiber Mini Jib from Indipro Tools — our newest donor, and we’re thrilled to welcome them to the grant!
  • $700 one-week DSLR camera package rental from Birns & Sawyer
  • $500 in expendables, grip, or lighting from Filmtools

• Eligibility: Open to filmmakers worldwide — including students — with documentaries, shorts, narrative features, or web series
eligible.
• Deadline: October 31st, 2025

Britt Penrod Award:
An additional $500 cash prize will go to a filmmaker whose project not only stands out as unique but makes an exceptional contribution to society.

Audience Impact Award:
Honoring the film that delivers the most emotionally powerful storytelling, this award with a $500 cash prize celebrates projects that deeply move and resonate with audiences.

Exclusive Benefit for All Applicants:
Every applicant if offered a complimentary 15-minute consultation on their project — this provides expert guidance on fundraising, building a donor or investor database, and marketing strategies.
