Allamuchy Township sits in the northeastern corner of Warren County, bordering Byram Township, Sussex County to the northeast and Mount Olive Township, Morris County just across the Musconetcong River, which forms Allamuchy’s southeastern border. Characterized by abundant farmland, more than 40% of the township is being actively used for agricultural purposes. Allamuchy is also home to Allamuchy Mountain State Park and historic Rutherford Hall. The Township is bisected by Interstate Route 80.

Allamuchy Township is currently petitioning the Highlands Council for a review of its master plan and development regulations for alignment with the Highlands Regional Master Plan (RMP) in the Planning Area portion of the township. The staff Consistency Review and Recommendations Report below provides an overview and analysis of this review. Comments on this petition are being accepted through Friday, October 3, 2025. At this time it is anticipated that the Council will take action on the petition at a future public meeting.
