The Township of Mendham, located in southern Morris County, is primarily a residential community with significant sensitive land, rural and historic characteristics. The township is home to Lewis Morris Park along its eastern border with Harding and Morris Townships, and also contains part of Schiff Nature Preserve in the southwest. In all, approximately one-third of the township is preserved land. Mendham Township is located entirely within the Planning Area of the Highlands region.
Mendham Township Petition for Plan Conformance
Mendham Township is in the process of petitioning the Highlands Council for conformance with the RMP. Following presentation of the petition at the June 19, 2025 Highlands Council public meeting, revisions were made to the staff Consistency Review. A revised Consistency Review is posted below and was available for public comment from July 31 through August 31, 2025. In October 2025, the Highlands Council approved Mendham's Petition for Plan Conformance
