Your participation and feedback will help New Jersey to shape the future investment in climate change solutions. As a member of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), a program that caps emissions from fossil fuel power plants and raises funds to fight climate change, New Jersey releases a Strategic Funding Plan every three years that guides its climate mitigation investments. To ensure the Strategic Funding Plan reflects the needs and priorities of New Jerseyans in an equitable way, we want to hear from you about how the state should invest these funds.
The agencies have released and are now soliciting public comment on a NJ RGGI Auction Proceeds Scoping Document Years 2023-2025 which outlines several proposed funding initiatives for the next three years of New Jersey’s RGGI Auction proceeds.
The next Strategic Funding Plan will be released in 2023 and we would like to hear from you about what projects and programs the state should invest in. We want to make sure everyone can participate so here are a few different ways you can get involved.

Watch Meeting Recording HereFrom June 9th- July 11th we asked the public to vote on which climate change solutions that reduce emissions, provide clean energy, and increase equity were most important. Using an online tool called “Your Climate Solution Ideas,” we collected over 241,000 votes from users across the state.
The tool presented users with two randomly selected, climate change solution ideas from a list of project ideas that the agencies could fund with RGGI dollars. Users then selected the option that was more important to them or submitted their own idea instead that was added into the list of climate change solution ideas. The tool then ranked all the ideas in the system based on the likelihood that a given solution will be favored over any other randomly selected solution in the list using an algorithm.
The results are in! Read the full results from the tool here.
