Best Practices

Parking Reform - Changing One Word Can Make the Difference:  Norman, Oklahoma (pop. 128,000) became the first city in that state to abolish most parking requirements citywide by changing one word in the existing ordinance. “Spaces required” were changed to “spaces recommended” for all uses except single-family and duplexes. The change has the biggest impact downtown and in areas with substantial mixed-use zoning. Learn how this One Simple Trick has benefited their revitalization – and can benefit yours.

Featured Grants & Support

Activate Your (Public) Assets: The New Jersey Asset Activation Planning Grant Program at the NJEDA will provide grants of up to $50,000 directly to grantees for pre-development planning that will demonstrate viability of projects that activate under-utilized public assets that benefit their communities and the regional economy. While the grant is open until August 5, 2024, awards will be given to successful applicants on a first come, first served basis. Applicants may be a NJ municipality, county, municipal, county, regional or state redevelopment agency, municipal, county, regional or state independent authority, or non-profit entity. For profit entities meeting certain additional requirements may also apply.
