Countdown to 2022 Ban on Single-Use Plastics Begins

New Jersey's ban on single-use plastic carryout bags and polystyrene foam food service products in stores and food service businesses will take effect on May 4, 2022. The law also bans single-use paper carryout bags in grocery stores over 2,500 square feet, and limits single-use plastic straws to only by request effective November 4, 2021. The New Jersey Business Action Center and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection have launched online resources to help businesses prepare for the move to reusable and recyclable products.
