Weight Regulations

Route I-295 (Carneys Point Twp) Truck Weigh Station
Certain parts of the Route I-295 Truck Weigh Station, located in the Township of Carneys Point in Salem County (Route I-295 approximate milepost 3.6), are under New Jersey Department of Transportation jurisdiction.  Traffic within this truck weigh station is hereby controlled by the following regulations:
(a) All vehicles must park in designated areas and between the lines provided within the truck weigh station.
(b) The certain parts of the truck weigh station described in this subsection are hereby designated and established as “no stopping or standing” zones, where stopping or standing is prohibited at all times:
(1) No stopping or standing along both sides:
(A) Along any roadway located within the confines of the truck weight station.
(c) The certain parts of the truck weigh station described in this subsection are hereby designated and established as “handicapped parking” areas for the use of persons who have been issued special vehicle identification cards by the Motor Vehicle Commission in accordance with the provisions of NJSA 39:4-197.5:
(1) Handicapped Parking:
(A) Within the designated parking areas as indicated on the site plan, during all hours.
(d) The certain parts of the truck weigh station described in this subsection are hereby designated as through streets, where stop signs are installed on the near right side of each street intersecting the through street except where yield signs are provided for in the designation:
(1) Through streets for both directions of traffic:
(A) Along Road “A” for its entire length.
(e) The certain parts of the truck weigh station described in this subsection are hereby designated as stop intersections:
(1) Stop signs shall be installed:
(A) At the intersection of Road “C” and Scale Road for traffic traveling along Road “C”.
(f) The certain parts of the truck weigh station described in this subsection are hereby designated as yield intersections:
(1) Yield signs shall be installed:
(A) At the intersection of Road “B” and Lot “A” for traffic traveling along Lot “A”.
(B) At the intersection of Road “B” and Road “A” for traffic traveling along Road “A”.
(C) At the intersection of Road “B” and Lot “B” for traffic traveling along Lot “B”.
(g) The certain parts of the truck weigh station described in this subsection are hereby designated for one way traffic:
(1) One-way streets in the westbound direction:
(A) Along Entrance Drive “A” for its entire length.
(B) Along Entrance Drive “B” for its entire length.
(C) Along Scale Road for its entire length.
(D) Along Road “C” for its entire length.
(2) One-way streets in the clockwise direction:
(A) Along Road “A” for its entire length.
(3) One-way streets in the eastbound direction:
(A) Along Road “B” for its entire length.
(B) Along Lot “A” and Lot “B” for their entire lengths.
(h) The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of the truck weigh station described in this subsection are hereby established and adopted as the maximum legal rate of speed:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 15 MPH along all roadways and parking lots within the entire complex.
(i) The certain parts of the truck weigh station described in this subsection are hereby designated and established as “tow-away zones”, where any vehicle parked or standing may be removed by towing the vehicle at the owners or operators expense:
(1) Tow-Away Zones:
(A) Any vehicles parked or standing as to obstruct or impede a normal flow of traffic, block entrances or exit ways, loading zones, oil fills, any grassy area, pedestrian walkway, or present in any way a safety or traffic hazard.
