New Jersey Department of Education

Information Literacy

The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) is dedicated to empowering educators to strengthen their students' information literacy skills and prepare them for success in the digital age. To support this goal, the NJDOE has created a series of practice briefs that highlight the importance of information literacy in each academic content area. These briefs offer a conceptual framework and broad guidelines to help educators make meaningful connections to information literacy skills within their subject matter.

The practice briefs provide educators with questions for reflection, resources, and recommendations to help teach students how to discern credible sources, evaluate information accuracy, and navigate the complexities of the information age. They are available on the Standards Transparency and Mastery Platform (STAMP) website, where the NJDOE will continue to publish resources that support the implementation of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS).
