From the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities:

New Jersey continues to lead in solar energy

Trenton – The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) announced today that New Jersey's solar industry has hit a substantial milestone by surpassing 90,000 solar projects completed across the Garden State, totaling more than 2.4 GW of installed solar energy.

“Governor Murphy’s Administration is extremely committed to enhancing renewable and reliable energy and solar energy is a big piece of that puzzle,” said NJBPU President Joseph L. Fiordaliso. “I am proud that the NJBPU has contributed to making New Jersey a national leader in solar energy in the success of these initiatives.”

In New Jersey, solar projects are installed on residential dwellings, businesses, and government facilities, in addition to underused land, such as landfills and brownfields.  Along with the environmental benefits offered by renewable generation, solar projects that are connected to the distribution system provide additional benefits such as generating electricity where it is needed and consumed; lowering capacity and congestion prices for delivery of electricity to ratepayers; and lower energy costs for residents, businesses, towns, and school districts that have solar panels.

As of March 31st, 3,137 solar projects have been completed this year to date, out of the total 90,000 solar projects completed in New Jersey over the past 18 years.
