As of September 30, 2019 there are 325,981 Veterans in New Jersey, of which 25,791 are women. Reaching these women Veterans and ensuring they receive their benefits is a priority to the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Office.

The New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Office prioritizes ensuring women Veterans receive the health care benefits they are entitled to, in order to thank them for their honorable service to our state and nation. The VA has continuously expanded the services offered in order to improve the care for women Veterans. Some of the services currently provided to women Veterans include reproductive health care, mammograms, and family planning assistance. DMAVA strives to connect all women Veterans in the state of New Jersey with the proper information and resources necessary to receive all the benefits they deserve.

The VA offers numerous programs to women Veterans who are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. These programs include housing solutions, employment opportunities justice and reentry related services. The VA also provides assistance for Veterans families to help house Veterans and their families through case management and supportive services. The New Jersey Department of Military and Veteran Affairs offers assistance to Veterans by providing transition assistance and shelters for Veterans in need.

Through our network of regional Veterans Service Offices, the N.J. Division of Veterans Services, Bureau of Veterans Benefits provides the state's veterans and their dependents with information and guidance in filing claims. Trained veterans service officers at those offices also assist veterans with issues pertaining to employment, education, burial, counseling, housing, social and medical services, and other areas of concern to veterans and their families. Please make every effort to use these valuable services. There are female veterans services officers in North, South, and Central Jersey that can provide assistance to female Veterans.

The New Jersey Commission on Women Veterans works in collaboration with other State agencies and appropriate groups to study and review the needs, priorities, programs and policies relating to women veterans, including, but not limited to, housing, healthcare, job training, and outreach.
