The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is committed to ensuring that individuals with disabilities have access to our programs, services and activities. The ADA Transition Plan guides the department’s internal and external actions and modifications necessary to attain full compliance with the ADA. The transition plan’s self-evaluation process establishes the department’s on-going commitment to ADA accessibility that engages New Jersey’s communities in the development, maintenance and update of our policies, programs and facilities.

NJDOT recognizes communities should be engaged early and often in transportation decisions that affect them. Accordingly, we are seeking the input of individuals with disabilities, concerned persons, advocacy groups and organizations representing those with disabilities to participate in the ADA Transition Plan/Self-Evaluation processes. Our goal is to ensure an engaging, transparent, proactive, and inclusive public engagement and participation approach where the public and communities have full opportunities to share their vision, concerns and comment on the NJDOT’s ADA transition plan and participate in its self-evaluation efforts.

Notices announcing outreach to the public and disability communities will be publicized on this webpage and if applicable by direct invitation to individuals and organizations. These notices will detail the availability of reasonable accommodation, free language assistance services, and will include contact information and processes for requesting services, including any deadlines. The public will be provided with at least five calendar days to request reasonable accommodation and/or language assistance.

Participant feedback/comments will be collected during virtual and in-person meetings, online via this webpage, and by electronic surveys.
