TRENTON – During a Special Meeting of the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission on Wednesday, October 30, the agency’s board voted to waive the November 1 regulatory requirement under N.J.A.C. 17:30-3.4(d) to set the 2025 Social Equity Excise Fee (SEEF) amount on the cultivation of recreational cannabis. This extension will allow the NJ-CRC board additional time to determine an appropriate SEEF rate for 2025.
“By extending the timeline to set the Social Equity Excise Fee for 2025, we’re ensuring that our decision reflects an intentional and thoughtful commitment to community reinvestment and sustainable growth for New Jersey’s cannabis industry,” said NJ-CRC Commission Chair Dianna Houenou.
The date of when the board is expected to vote on the 2025 SEEF rate has yet to be determined.
The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission establishes and enforces the rules and regulations governing the licensing, cultivation, manufacturing, testing, selling, and purchasing of cannabis in the state.
