TRENTON, NJ March 29, 2018 – The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development today announced a new convenience for customers who have appealed an unemployment benefits claim determination: The ability to register for an appeal hearing online.

The new online feature, activated by the Office of Benefit Appeals, enables claimants to register for their appeal hearing 24 hours per day, seven days per week. It eliminates the need to call the Department of Labor to schedule the hearing, which previously could be accomplished only during normal business hours.

The online feature is for claimants who have received Notice of Phone Hearing in the mail.

“The latest enhancement is part of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s commitment to make our services more convenient, customer-focused and user-friendly,” said Commissioner Robert Asaro-Angelo. “We will continue to add online options wherever feasible, in addition to increasing customer call line staff.”

More than 70,000 employees and employers who are involved in a contested unemployment case would be able to use the new online feature. The link is available here. The phone number remains: 609-777-1823.

Customers were introduced to an online option to file an appeal of an unemployment benefits determination in 2015. That link can be found here.
