HMFA Announces New Free Guide for First-Time Homebuyers
TRENTON, N.J. - The New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (HMFA) today announced that a free downloadable guide for first-time homebuyers is available on its website. The guide provides information that will help guide homebuyers in making a smart and accurate decision before purchasing a home.
“This guide provides prospective homebuyers with a good start to finding the right home,” stated Commissioner Richard E. Constable, III, who is Chair of the HMFA. “This is a great way to educate buyers before they fully engage in the home buying process.”
The free downloadable “Guide for First-Time Homebuyers,” which is located on the right-hand side of the HMFA’s homepage, provides step-by-step guidance for those on the “road to homeownership.” It acquaints buyers with key aspects of the home purchasing process and the benefits of home ownership. The guide also includes information on HMFA’s mortgage programs, frequently asked questions, tools, resources, helpful terms, and contact information. The guide is a solid roadmap for the process of buying a home.
“Deciding where to live is one of the biggest decisions a homeowner will ever make,” said Anthony Marchetta, HMFA Executive Director. “It is very important that potential buyers equip themselves with the proper information to avoid pitfalls and to help them successfully navigate their way to a new home.”
HMFA responds to the needs of New Jersey residents by implementing creative programs and establishing alliances that fund affordable home mortgages for first-time home buyers; promote construction and rehabilitation of rental housing; encourage mixed-income, owner-occupied housing growth as a means to stabilize urban neighborhoods; contribute to the quality of life of older adults, the disabled and those with special housing needs; and formulate partnerships to foster the economic development of New Jersey and the personal development of its residents.
