In 2016, DCF began supporting trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) programs for children and youth exposed to domestic violence. TF-CBT is an evidence-based treatment that aims to help children overcome Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, feelings of shame, behavioral difficulties and works to increase children’s coping and resiliency. This model is available in 11 counties throughout the state. This program is currently administered by DCF’s Office of Strategic Development.
