NJDOT announces weekend closure
of Interstate 80 eastbound Exit 34 in Wharton

(Trenton) – The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced that the I-80 eastbound Exit 34 off-ramp to North Main Street will be closed this weekend for roadway repairs in Wharton Township, Morris County.

NJDOT has planned a staged closure of the exit-ramp. On Friday, October 30, at 9:30 a.m. NJDOT will close the Exit 34 off-ramp from I-80 eastbound to North Main Street, as well as the ramp deceleration lane in order to reconstruct the settled roadway around the ramp. NJDOT will also close the right lane on I-80 eastbound in the vicinity of the exit.

The closures will remain in place over the weekend period, and will be re-opened to traffic by 5:30 a.m., on Monday morning, November 2. All work is weather permitting.

I-80 eastbound traffic headed for Main Street or Route 15 will be directed to Exit 35 (Mount Hope), back over onto I-80 westbound, taking I-80 westbound to Exit 34 A-B back to Main Street.

NJDOT will utilize variable message signs on I-80 to advise motorists of the traffic pattern changes. Real time travel and construction information is available online at www.511nj.org.
