NJDOT to resurface Route 129 in Mercer County

(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation will start a project next week to resurface a two-mile stretch of Route 129 in Trenton, Mercer County from Route 1 to Lamberton Road.

“Resurfacing Route 129 will provide a smoother and safer drive for motorists while extending the life of the roadway,” said Commissioner James Simpson.

Starting Monday, April 11, NJDOT will begin temporary single lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for two weeks to upgrade the traffic signals at Hamilton Avenue, Cass Street and Liberty Street. On April 18, NJDOT will begin nightly temporary single lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the duration of the project.

Starting Monday, April 25, 2011 the Lamberton Road Connector will have one travel lane entering Lamberton Road to access the PSEG Mercer Generating Plant and the Duck Island Terminal. Motorists leaving this area between 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. will be detoured northbound on Lamberton Road to Route 29/Route 129 southbound to I-195 eastbound. Motorists wishing to make a U-turn will continue to the Route 206 interchange. The nightly detour will last for one week.

The $3.5 million project will be completed in October 2011.
