Lane closures announced for final paving
on North Marginal Street in Weehawken
(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced final surface course paving operations will take place on North Marginal Street over Park Avenue in Weehawken, Hudson County.
NJDOT this week has begun daily single lane closures between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for final paving and striping operations. The construction is expected to last approximately 3-4 work days, into next week, and be completed Monday, April 25, weather depending.
The NJ TRANSIT bus stop at the North Marginal Street bridge will resume operation upon completion of the final paving and striping work.
This work is associated with the $925,000 North Marginal Street bridge deck replacement, which was accomplished with one lane of traffic maintained at all times. NJDOT’s contractor, Nagi Construction Co., has also upgraded the existing sidewalks in the area immediately adjacent to the bridge. North Marginal Street has been opened to three lanes of traffic over Park Avenue since December.
North Marginal Street is a one-way (westbound) connector roadway running parallel to the Route 495 westbound elevated highway leading from the Lincoln Tunnel. The roadway is a major carrier route for NJ TRANSIT and local buses.
