Main Street closed for railroad-crossing repairs
in Flemington
(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced that a portion of Main Street in Flemington will be temporarily closed to rehabilitate a Black River & Western railroad grade crossing.
Main Street will be closed to traffic at the railroad crossing between Fulper Road and Church Street from Monday, June 13 at 6 a.m. to Saturday, June 18 at 6 p.m., weather dependent.
• Motorists heading south will take Fulper Road to Central Avenue to Church Street to Main Street.
• Motorists heading north will take Church Street to Central Avenue to Fulper Road to Main Street.
In order to provide a safer and smoother railroad crossing on Main Street, NJDOT will replace the existing crossing with a new concrete freight rail crossing and repave the asphalt approaches. The cost of the work is $2140,000.
This project is part of NJDOT’s ongoing railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades or removes approximately 30 crossings each year. Real time traffic information is available at www.511nj.org
