Route 30 traffic shifts planned through Pomona Road intersection in Galloway
(Trenton) - A traffic shift is scheduled on Route 30 through the intersection with Pomona Road (CR 575) in Galloway Township, Atlantic County on Wednesday night, July 6.
NJDOT’s contractor, Mount Construction Co., is scheduled to shift all travel lanes on Route 30 to the eastbound side of the highway, from Genoa Avenue to Willow Avenue, and establish a new construction zone on the westbound side of the highway. Once the new traffic pattern is in place, Route 30 will continue to carry two travel-lanes in each direction during daytime and peak-period hours. Pomona Road will maintain one lane in each direction.
Single-lane closures are necessary overnight on Route 30, but one travel lane will be maintained in each direction at all times during construction.
The ongoing $6.5 million project aims to improve safety and reduce congestion at the intersection of Route 30 and Pomona Road by widening the cross section of Route 30 to feature new left-turn lanes at each approach on the highway. Work is anticipated for completion in fall 2012.
Variable message signs have been installed to inform motorists regarding any changes in traffic patterns.
The precise timing of the work mentioned in this advisory is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
