Reconstructed I-78 overpass reopens
in Clinton Township
(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced the reconstructed Interstate 78 overpass bridge that connects Route 22 westbound and Beaver Avenue (CR 626) to I-78 eastbound and Route 22 has been reopened in Clinton Township, Hunterdon County.
The $1 million project replaced the structurally deficient bridge deck and also resurfaced the roadway approaches on either end of the ramp and upgraded the existing guide rail.
NJDOT’s contractor, Konkus Corporation, reopened the ramp to traffic on Tuesday afternoon, July 26. The ramp had been completely closed to traffic since mid-March to allow for safe access to perform the necessary deck demolition and reconstruction work.
NJDOT worked with Clinton Township officials on the detour route.
