Route 46 bridge reconstruction over Beaver Brook complete in White Township
(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced that the Route 46 westbound bridge reconstruction over the Beaver Brook has been completed in White Township.
NJDOT’s contractor, H&G Contractors Inc., has completed final paving and striping operations and returned Route 46 to the normal configuration, carrying two travel lanes in each direction over the Beaver Brook. Route 46 had been restricted to one lane in each direction since December 2010 for demolition and reconstruction work on the westbound bridge deck. Sarepta Road (CR 618) has also been reopened at the intersection with Route 46 westbound.
The $1.9 million project replaced the existing, structurally deficient bridge deck over Beaver Brook, as well as the bridge abutments and approach slabs. New curbing, traffic markings and guide rails have been installed and NJDOT resurfaced Route 46 westbound on either side of the bridge.
Additional construction elements will continue off the highway with no impact to traffic. NJDOT anticipates final completion of the project later this summer.
Motorists are also encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
