Overnight lane closures announced for Pulaski Skyway and NJ Turnpike
(Trenton) - NJDOT officials today announced that motorists can expect a series of overnight lane closures on the Route 1&9 Pulaski Skyway as well as the NJ Turnpike Eastern and Western spurs underneath the Skyway this week.
On Wednesday, August 17, NJDOT is scheduled to begin a series of overnight and early morning single-lane closures on the Skyway and single and double-lane closures on the Turnpike spurs that will run through the week. At least one travel lane will be maintained on each roadway at all times.
These lane closures are necessary for the installation of new drainage system components for an on-going drainage improvement project on the Skyway.
NJDOT is working closely with the City of Newark, the City of Jersey City, the Township of Kearny, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and NJ TRANSIT to coordinate the successful completion of the Pulaski Skyway repairs.
Variable Message Signs have been installed throughout the work corridor to advise motorists of scheduled lane closures and other traffic information.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
