NJDOT closes two lanes of
I-495 eastbound for emergency repairs

Bridge deck requires immediate work in North Bergen

(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the emergency closure of the two right lanes on an I-495 eastbound bridge in North Bergen near Route 3.

I-495 eastbound feeds into the Lincoln Tunnel and motorists heading into New York City should expect congestion and delays, and are advised to seek alternate routes.

NJDOT crews will be closing the two right lanes immediately to assess a damaged bridge deck joint and begin emergency repairs following a structural evaluation. The bridge crosses a park-and-ride in North Bergen. The duration of the work is unknown at this time, but it will likely affect the afternoon commute and could impact tomorrow morning’s commute as well.

Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and plan their trips accordingly.
